Pragma vs Jira

Jira is the most capable issue tracker ever built, and for a large engineering organization with a service desk, a compliance function and fifty custom workflows, that capability is the point. Pragma is a different trade: one typed graph that says what every task is for, a flat bill, and agents as first-class clients.
What Jira genuinely does better
- Ecosystem. The Marketplace has an app for nearly everything, and every vendor you buy from already integrates with it.
- Configurability at scale. Screens, field schemes, permission schemes, JQL — if you need a workflow shaped exactly one way for one department, Jira will do it.
- Service management. Jira Service Management is a real ITSM product; Pragma has nothing in that category.
- Enterprise governance. Data residency, audit tooling and certifications that Pragma does not hold today — see our security page for exactly where we stand.
Where Pragma is different
- The chain, not the hierarchy. Every task answers a requirement, every requirement answers a deliverable. Work that answers nothing is flagged, and a requirement cannot close while open work still answers it.
- Analysis instead of reporting. Dependencies are real edges, so critical path, impact of a slip and "what can start now" are computed, not assembled in a dashboard.
- A bill that does not punish inclusion. Flat per organization, and contractors or clients join as free puppets.
- Agents that are not an add-on. 81 MCP tools, unlimited connected apps on every plan, never metered.
